PSA North East this Saturday 09.30 with Andy Lopata and Jo Simpson :)

This Saturday 24th March 2012

9:00 Carrwood Park, Nr Garforth, Leeds

Our speakers are:

Andy Lopata

Labelled ‘Mr Network’ by The Sun, Andy Lopata was called one of Europe’s leading business networking strategists by the Financial Times. Andy is the author of three books on networking, as well as a blogger for The Huffington Post and NatWest Business Sense.

Andy speaks internationally and has worked with companies from one-man bands to organisations such as Deloitte, Merrill Lynch and Mastercard to help them realise the full potential from their networking.

He is also a Fellow and former vice-president of the Professional Speaking Association.

"It's Who Knows You"

One of the first things most professional speakers are told to do is 'go out and network'. What follows is a flurry of activity at local networking events, at the PSA and on sites such as LinkedIn and Twitter. But what do we actually achieve from all of this networking?

Andy Lopata believes that most speakers struggle to achieve anywhere near the potential that networking can offer us. While many of us speak about the importance of goals and objectives in our presentations, these are precisely the qualities lacking from much of our networking.

The day before this meeting, Andy will be speaking on the main stage of the Federation of Small Businesses Conference alongside some of the biggest names in British business and politics. In his interactive presentation, Andy will share some of the content he shares with audiences around the world, as well as a personal insight into how his advice has helped his own speaking career.

Andy will also be asking you to consider just how you can network to develop your speaking business and challenge you to leave this masterclass with a clear idea of the help you need...and where you can find it.

Jo Simpson

Every decision you make is based on your core values whether you are consciously aware of it or not. Jo Simpson is a leading authority and inspiration in Values Based Leadership and through the successes she has achieved in her International work with Leaders in Organisations, Business Owners and Individuals, Jo will share with you how living and leading from your core values (your personal motivators) is the key to success in all areas of your speaking business and indeed life. Learn how to make better, more profitable decisions for your business and personal success by understanding and aligning those decisionswith your values. To discover what drives your success (or lack of it), Jo’s session is a must.

This event is not to be missed.

Our UPDATED upcoming meeting dates...

We've been meeting, phoning, skyping and emailing to offer you the best value we can as the Professional Speaking Assocation North East Region,

Here's the latest meeting schedule (please ignore any others previously published)...

Monday 19th March 2012 18:30 In the true North East!

We are meeting in partnership with Toastmasters in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

The brilliant international speaker Clive Wilson and the award winning Andy McKechnie.

DZUKANI – the wake-up call

When Nelson Mandela was asked for the secret of his success, he told journalists simply “I

know who I am.” From this powerful foundation he transformed the darkness of apartheid

to the compelling future of a rainbow nation. He and other notable leaders have shared

common traits: facing up the future with honesty and courage and transforming tension into

opportunity. In a challenging world this technique which Primeast calls Dzukani must be

understood and applied by every leader (and speaker) who wants to make a difference. Clive

Wilson will share this simple process in a manner that can be replicated again and again.

Clive has been speaking at conferences and facilitating workshops on the release of human

potential since 2000 and has worked in all continents except South America. He is a long-

standing member of PSA and was our northeast chapter president between 2004 and

2006. He is deputy chairman at Primeast, a global consultancy specialising in leadership,

change and teamwork since 1987. He was MD between 2002 and 2008 during which time he

and his co-directors grew the business over four-fold and delivered a stretching vision (in full

and early).

Andy McKechnie: Fit to Lead – A New Generation

Andy McKechnie is an international motivational speaker and the Junior Chamber

International World Public Speaking Champion 2006. He is an accomplished professional

speaker, peak performance coach and wellbeing consultant. Andy has an amazing ability

to tailor his presentations to inspire lasting change. In recent years, he has delivered

motivational speeches in the UK, Switzerland, Estonia, Sweden and South Korea. A

former member of the national freestyle ski team, Andy believes that we must be mentally,

emotionally and physically “match fit” for leadership, business and modern life. Andy now

speaks at over 50 conferences every year. Famed for his contagious enthusiasm, Andy

shares powerful tools and strategies to allow any individual business or organisation to be FIT

FOR LIFE AND FIT FOR LEADERSHIP!!!

We are living in turbulent times. Competition in business is no longer local or national, it is

truly international. With many of the baby boomers retiring, there are legions of young people

now entering the workplace, and many of them will become key decision makers in the next

few years. With the click of a computer mouse or mobile device, modern audiences can

be “instant experts”. This inspirational new session will allow you get the results you want

every time you speak to a younger and techno savvy audience.

This event is a collaboration between Toastmasters and PSAwho will have one of their members delivering a short talk which will be evaluated by PSA members as well as Toastmasters. Their will also be a whole lot of fun with speakers from both associations taking part in the table topics challenge.

Due to the collaborative nature of the event we expect it to fill up quickly so please book

early.

Our next meeting is on January 28th 2012 learn from @icaninspire + other speakers and a video marketing expert!

PROFESSIONAL SPEAKING ASSOCIATION NORTH EAST REGION 2012
If you speak as part of your business come along and join us at the North East Professional Speaking region. Our aim is to raise the standard of professional speaking and promote speaking as a professional industry.

Our next meeting on January 28th 2012 is definitely one that will help us start the year on a high.
This first meeting of 2012 will focus on ‘how to build a successful speaking business’.

How to speak a 1000 times in 5 years?

Richard McCann our President has forged a very successful speaking career which has helped him become one of the busiest speakers currently in the UK. He is often asked how he has done it. In this session he will tell just how he has created his success. He will also share some of the innovative methods that have helped sustain his success as well as some of the very hard lessons he had to learn along the way. Note* this is not his iCan presentation.

Video-camera-1

Video - what's so great about it and how can it work for you?

Video is currently the fastest growing marketing tool out there – so what's so great about it and how can it work for you? Feature Media are a full service digital film production company, providing film solutions for the private, public and third sector groups. Julie Tumilty, Sales and Marketing Director at Feature Media will be delivering a presentation, which will guide you through how to use video for best effect. Julie will cover why video is the best way to market your business; what should your video marketing strategy be; who are your best customers and therefore who do you want to target more of? How do you currently engage with customers? What’s stopping you from getting more customers? Or converting the sales? What are your competitors doing? Working on these points Julie will help you to develop a video marketing strategy for your business, touching on what does video cost and what sort of video is right for you and your business?

Speaker Question Time
Following the two speakers we will be joined by a panel of speakers who will be sharing their top tips and a few mishaps (!) about building a speaking business. The floor will then be opened for questions, discussion and goal setting.

Christmas @PSANorthEast event (+ rumours of a mince pie/ drink or two!)

Christmas_mic

Christmas is approaching and have we in the North East got a present for you. Our next meeting is definately one that will help us finish the year on a high. First of all we have secured the winner of the 2011 PSA Speaker Factor competition and for anyone who was not at the conference, Chis Mathewman was hilarious.

Chris Matthewman is a writer, communicator and self proclaimed expert on all things to do with love and relationships. Whether in our personal lives or careers there are very few things that have the power to affect us for good or ill, more than the relationships we have and the people that we know. Through comedy, music, discussion and a humorously presented catalogue of romantic mishap, Chris presents the principles that have helped him to handle his relationships in less disastrous ways. Chris has spoken on relationships  to audiences as diverse as business owners in Cardiff,  sixth form students at Harrow and comedy lovers at the Edinburgh fringe.

Shonette Bason is the Mary Poppins of motivation! She is a national and international speaker who inspires and impacts on the workforce. Shonette started her career as a primary school teacher working in a variety of schools, even abroad in Switzerland and Cyprus. As a single mother of 4 she has learnt how to juggle family life with running her own successful business. Her passion, energy, enthusiasm and dedication radiate out of her and infect those around her in a positive way. Listening to her present ' Send You Soaring' will entertain you and she will certainly make you smile with her humourous style. Its all underpinned with long lasting thought provoking strategies to influence all aspects of people lives.

Pete Wilkinson (CHECKOUT ZONE)
Pete is a Success Coach, Trainer, Seminar Leader and Speaker.  His company (www.petewilkinson.com) supports professional people to achieve Super Success and Happiness within their businesses and lives.  He believes that everyone can become a High Performance Individual and blends coaching, training and mentoring to achieve this. Born and schooled in Sunderland Pete now lives with his wife and children in Whitburn and spends his spare time competing in Triathlons and Cycling events around the UK. Pete’s presentation is called “Ironman Attitude.”  Pete believes that by utilising the strategy he employed while competing in Ironman, his business and the businesses of others, will be far more successful, it’s as easy as 1-3-5!

Take part, be a judge, give feedback and also listen to one the UK's best speakers, Yorkshire's very own Phil Hesketh...

Philip with guitar

Now firmly established as one of the country’s top professional speakers, Philip Hesketh both commands the attention of an audience and captures its imagination.

It might be an inspiring sixty-minute talk or a highly bespoke and interactive two-day seminar. Both are delivered with the same ruthless aplomb that combine a potent mix of thought-provoking, well-researched, persuasive techniques with his own highly entertaining and unique brand of humour. The result? Audiences are enthralled as well as informed from first minute to last. Smiling throughout and often laughing out loud. But more importantly, they leave the event inspired and better informed on how buying, selling, persuading and influencing actually work. For it is the transference of this knowledge of how the process of influence works that empowers delegates to become more persuasive and influential themselves from that moment on.

Plenty of speakers can address an audience about the powers of persuasion. However, few can actually teach them how to become more persuasive in a ‘Key Note’ talk of 30, 45 or sixty minutes that is highly tailored to their particular organisation or industry. This is the specialism of Philip Hesketh.

His audiences include accountants, lawyers, IFAs, bankers, engineers and sales specialists in a wide variety of fields. And although the outcome of each presentation is the same, the content and delivery is always different. One delegate said recently, “I didn’t seem to go more than ten minutes without feeling the need to either laugh out loud or write something down.” And as another delegate at a two-day course commented “It was highly interactive and yet had none of that awful role play stuff!”

He is the author of the Amazon number one best selling book, ‘How to Persuade and Influence People’ which has been described as ‘The definitive guide to persuasion and influence.’  His second book, ‘The Seven Golden Rules for a Happy and Successful Life’ is available in hard back from his web site. He is a Visiting Fellow at Newcastle University and current holder of Vistage UK’s ‘Outstanding Performer’, ‘Most Requested Speaker’ and TEC Australia’s ‘Overseas Speaker of The Year’ awards. More details: www.heskethtalking.com
